The purpose of this project is to assist with software package configurations, reporting, and data warehousing tasks using Oracle OBIEE for several key IT initiatives within the clients Human Resources Division.
Major components of this effort include the following:
Migrating data from legacy systems (ELIPSYS and other databases, etc.)
Configuring an OBIEE repository and developing related reports
Implementing processes and controls across the above components
Bachelor's degree with a major in the field of computer science, information science
Duties:
Developing configuration requirements for Oracle's OBIEE based upon the requirements obtained from the users. Will also work with IT designated staff to design, construct and manage various ancillary databases required to meet needs.
This position requires someone who can understand both the big picture and detailed requirements and act as the go to person for requirement / design explanation, questions and issue resolution. The DB / Analyst should be able to understand how the requirements map to the technical solution and ensure scope and requirements of projects are met through the implementation.
Experience Required:
Total 8 years in DBA roles on large scale technology projects
At least 5+ years of IT experience.
At least 3 years of experience as a senior technical resource on data warehousing projects
At least 2 years experience with OBIEE in particular
At least 2 years experience as a business analyst or Data Base Administrator implementing web based / data warehousing solutions for internet, extranet, and intranet applications.
Knowledge of business process analysis and formal development methodologies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to translate complex business needs into use case-like models
Familiarity with reporting and ETL tools a plus
Must have excellent human relations, communications and analysis skills, planning and organizational proficiency and good business judgment.
Must be familiar with IT business practices and be able to interface and integrate with IT and Agency functional areas.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Ability to perform related duties, as required.
Skills Required:
Demonstrated experience with oracle's OBIEE technology
Collaborate with business owners, end users, and Subject Matter Experts to gather and document business requirements
Gathers business requirements through a variety of techniques (e.g. work sessions and interviews) and facilitates design workshops (Business).
Clarify and elaborate requirements when they are ambiguous, change, or conflict with other business requirements
Develop data warehousing system design approaches to ensure they fully meet the business requirements
Write use cases, business rules, and other artifacts such as swim lane diagrams and activity flow diagrams to effectively articulate and represent business processes, desired outcomes, and requirements
Produce key design documents, both in written and presentation format.
Excellent problem solver with the ability to keep many driving factors and requirements in focus
Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Strong communication and documentation skills, ability to communicate and interact at executive and junior levels
Consistent attention to detail
Overall high degree of professionalism
Preferred Skills:
Working knowledge of Relational Databases, Data Modeling and Analytics skills; Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence theory and concepts.
Experience with ETL tools such as ODI, Informatica, a plus.
