Business Analyst – Financial Systems with P& C insurance domain exp

·         SUMMARY

Act as a financial business and systems subject matter expert.  Collaborate with financial team in defining, documenting and communicating business strategy, process and operations.  Effectively identify, document, translate and communicate business requirements to software development, systems analysts and quality assurance personnel.  Review and analyze financial team requests and requirements and subsequently identify the most effective and efficient process, methods and systems to achieve the stated goals and objectives  Lead the investigation, analysis and design of effective and efficient system and workflow processes. Lead the development and execution of test cases to ensure system changes are performing as noted per the business requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Collaborate with the financial team in the review, design, development and engineering of efficient and effective processes and procedures to support the following:
o        Internal financial controls

·         Compliance activities associated with internal and external processes involving agents, auditors, actuaries and various financial officers

·         Financial analytics, measures and metrics required for daily operations as well as monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting.

·         Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance

·         o        Billing, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Taxation
o        Income, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
o        Annual financial plan, operating budget and quarterly and annual statutory financial statements.
·        Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
·        Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
·        Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: (Functional requirements (Business Requirements Document), iii. Use Cases, GUI, Screen and Interface designs)
·        Planning objectives/required actions to complete a project or process redesign effort (evaluating solutions and resources, assessing current state)
·        Evaluating and re-engineering of existing processes
·        Drive and challenge business units on their process and assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
·        Documenting processes and projects (creating project reports, presentations, business cases, and diagrams)
·        Collecting data, measuring, and reporting performance
·        Meeting with key stakeholders or performers required to complete the work
·        Improve methods for analyzing, mining, and monitoring performance
·        Build out reporting structure to measure and track results (includes current and future-state reports)
·        Provide clear concise communication with project team and mid-level management.  
·        Ability to influence or negotiate with other functional areas
·        Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
·        Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of project managers
·        Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
·        Establishing best practice processes and procedures and mentoring operational resources on per need basis
·        Interact professionally with a diverse group of subject matter experts.
·        Serves as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow.
·        Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
·        Provide effective communication regarding issues, objectives, initiatives and monitor performance to plan
·        Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of current systems and various software products leveraged within the business, as necessary
·        Establish and maintain policy for documentation
·        Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:        

Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in the following
:

·        Financial and insurance practice, process, procedures and systems
·        Project management methodologies such as Scrum, Agile, RUP, FDD and RAD
·        Software systems validation and testing
·        Property and Casualty Insurance terms, workflow and processes
·        Writing business requirements
·        Requirements-based testing and software development life cycles
·        QA methods and processes
·        Testing concepts (comparison, usability/ease, boundary/stress, data validation)
·        Implementation and administration of Software Quality Assurance metrics, such as defect profiles and performance to entry/exit (end-to end testing) criteria.
·        Process efficiency expertise including LEAN Six Sigma

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
       
Bachelors Degree in Business or Information Technology or prior commensurate experience

COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE:

               
Technology proficiency, including various types of computer and communication technological hardware, software and processes including but not limited to: Microsoft Products and development tools, SQL Server, SQL Reporting and Analytics, XML, Hyperion, Windows Server and Workstation, Microsoft Office, MS Access.  Must also possess an understanding of Visual Basic, C#, ASP.NET, Web Services, HTML, CSS, HTTP, Portal, JavaScript, SharePoint, Web Browsers, Visual Studio, DB2 Data Warehouse design and implementation, Data Modeling and Management, Database administration and security, OLAP Tools. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).  Experience in various financial packages such as Oracle, PeopleSoft
