Job Description
Test Engineer to develop test plans/test scripts for SBIOS test in a team-oriented environment. Lead a small to medium team of Testers/Technicians.
Responsibilities
• Perform engineering analysis of software functionality, test plan and test script development. Convert functional specifications into efficient test plans.
• Actively participate in developing & improving existing testing technologies, including methods, approaches & execution.
• Perform high-value ad hoc testing and set up of complicated test configurations. Suggests test direction & responsible for overall management to provide timely status reporting.
• Provide leadership, direction and strategy on technical issues. Provide mentoring/guidance to FW technicians and test/release engineering leads.
• Lead complex testing tasks requiring planning, scheduling and extensive troubleshooting; provide in-depth defect characterization.
• Responsible for and manage timely, quality test deliverables.
• Involved in the investigation & resolution of problems
• Interface with R&D development team and promote strong communication to understand requirements and improve test effectiveness.
• Be responsible and proactive on interfacing and maintaining good relationships with PMs and CTL.
• Able to manage small – medium test team resources efficiently to be able to handle multi tasks/assignments simultaneously and be able to meet the schedule
• Work closely with counterpart Test Lead located in Asia, perform test auditing and provide guidance on coverage and strategy.
• Be responsible for test automation development and QC implementation
Qualifications
Experience and knowledge (Must have background in one or more of these areas:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field of study, with 3- 6 years related experience or equivalent.
• Expert in technical subject matter such as PC architecture, PC firmware, PC HW devices such as CPU, memory configurations, TPM, SED SSD Drive.
• Knowledge of System BIOS such as SPI Flash, boot timing, boot block, boot order, BIOS user group, POST, PNP ID, WMI, ACPI table, CPU throttling, C state, GPIO, MBR, GPT, EFI, Keyboard scan
code, power state management. Familiar with HP BIOS setup is a plus.
• Familiarity with DOS, XP, Windows7 and/or Linux.
• Knowledge of test processes and test case development.
• At least one computer programming language as well as a scripting language.
Skills:
• Leadership qualities (e.g., integrity, sense of urgency, goal oriented, motivator, etc.)
• Ability to work with a diverse team — must be a team player.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills in order to generate creative/innovative solutions.
• Keen attention to details and accuracy.
• Very good planning, organization, and facilitation skills.
Effective communication skills in English. Chinese language skills a plus
