Network Security Engineer

Key responsibilities and tasks:
Under the general guidance of the Chief, Infrastructure Services, and supervision by the Manager, Network and Desktop Services, the incumbent is responsible for providing technical support for Country Office's ICT Managers on network security, including local area network infrastructure with Cisco PIX and ASA firewall appliances, managed directly by ICT Managers or through Managed Security Services provider. The incumbent is required to follow UNDP standards for desktop, network and security, and to provide advice on emerging networking and security industry. The key tasks and responsibilities include:
Validate and oversee implementation of Firewall Security Policy Change Requests on all firewalls managed by Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP)
Coordinate implementation of Global Firewall Security Policy Change Requests with Country Office's ICT Managers and MSSP
Provide support and assistance to the Country Office's ICT Managers in design, deployment and operations of network and network security facilities
Assist Country Office's ICT Managers in performing IP renumbering for implementation of Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange
Configure and maintain VPN tunnels for various corporate applications, including Exchange, ATLAS, etc.
Periodically review firewall security policies and update system documentation as needed
Perform regular service reviews with Manager, Network and Desktop Services, and MSSP
Keeping abreast of networking and security technology trends and developments.
UNDP relies heavily on LAN and Internet facilities to communicate with country office, donors and program countries. The networking and security systems are needed to provide secure and reliable corporate computing services and communication tools to UNDP. Errors in this function and failure to properly implement networking facility have severe impact on Internet access, email, corporate applications for HQ and CO's.

Work Experience |
Minimum 3 years of technology experience with increasing responsibility and experience in supporting complex networking technology arena. Experience in supporting and maintaining Cisco Systems networking and security hardware and software in a complex environment

Skills and languages |
Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in computer networking and cabling infrastructure Excellence knowledge in Cisco networking and security hardware and software Knowledge of Microsoft Windows server 2003 or later and various flavors of Unix Operating Systems (Sun Solaris, HP/UX, or Linux) an advantage Fluent in English Excellent communication, analytical, negotiation and writing skills |
