Summary: Coordinate changes to computer databases, test and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems. Responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the computer database. Typically has an Associates degree with previous experience in programming. The technical skills include the ability to write and test programs.
Education/Experience
o Associates degree in computer programming or relevant field required. Bachelor degree preferred o 7-10 years experience required
Responsibility level
o Exercises independent judgment with direction from supervisor
Skills
Oracle Database Administrator position requirement:
Proven experience with Oracle Database technology with following focused areas:
•10 years or more experience with Oracle database administration
•5 years or more experience with Oracle RAC and replication
•Must have Clustering experience 9Must have hands on administration, installation, configuration of Veritas and other Clustering SW solutions)
•Understanding of database concepts and experience in data modeling, physical and logical database design.
•Must have hands-on experience with Oracle installation, upgrade, configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting and backup / recovery procedures.
•Experience and strong understanding of Oracle RAC, replication and partitioning (multi nodes 3+)
•Experience in writing database related queries, developing and implementing stored procedures
•Experience with troubleshooting of SQLNET, TCP/IP intercommunication within zoned-network architecture
•Experience with Oracle RMAN and Veritas Net Backup
•Knowledge of Veritas volume manager, Veritas Cluster Server and SAN
•Experience and strong knowledge with UNIX shell scripts
•Prepare detailed specifications for enhancements and modifications to new and existing systems.
•Create technical documentation and method of procedures for enterprise installations
•Establish / recommend policies and standards for databases
•Perform security updates, patch installation and audits
•Assist management in the planning and implementation of information systems
•Must have experience in detecting and resolving database issues and problems in a Production environment
•Experience with integration of systems within a web environment
•Experience with WebLogic and/or WebSphere Application Server administration is beneficial
•Strong Unix/Solaris hands on experience
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
o Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications o Modify existing databases and database management systems o Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations o Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system o Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
