AIX: 6+ years
Summary of Responsibilities
Responsible for setup, maintenance and quality assessment of UNIX based operating systems, related utilities and hardware. Candidate will have a sense of ownership on task assignments and complete within a given time frame. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, AIX system administration, configurations, disaster recovery exercises, troubleshooting hardware and software, as well as other support and project activities for the overall environment. Candidate will have strong verbal and written skills and develop / update procedures for routine administration tasks.
Essential Job Duties
• Ability to performs application installations and setup.
• Monitors and controls system resources and act accordingly to prevent system outages
• Provides recommendations for improving the server environment.
• Take part in an On-Call rotation supporting 24x7 critical Production applications. Provide support as required during normal business hours as well as after hours.
• Analyzes and resolves complex hardware and software issues related to UNIX technology.
• Increases and maintains proficiency as an "Industry Expert" on UNIX technology, methodologies, and concepts as appropriate.
• Ability to multi-task and work multiple projects as a team member
• Establishes strong working relationships with key staff members in ERCOT departments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
• Extensive Knowledge of AIX, Virtual IO, HMC and PowerVM.
• Experience with NPIV and GPFS
• AIX Performance Tuning
• Experience with Shell Scripting
• Knowledge of JAVA and PERL a plus.
• Experience working with Oracle is a plus
