QA Engineer (Contract to Hire)

As a critical member of the application development team, the Quality Assurance Engineer will be primarily responsible for the design, implementation, execution, and issue resolution around QA testing, tools, frameworks, and processes to help assure successful, high quality, high performance, and on-time deliveries of Crimson applications.

Candidates should have excellent, practical working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle across multiple methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, etc. Hands-on experience in QA testing, processes, tools, and methodologies is a must. Candidates should have the ability to develop business and technical knowledge quickly.  Finally, candidates should possess a strong sense of ownership and self-sufficiency with a track record of successfully helping development teams gain efficiency through QA improvement. 

 

Responsibilities:

·         Design, execute, and maintain detailed test cases/scripts

·         Verify code developed during the release

·         Write clear, concise, descriptive bug reports

·         Verify bug fixes

·         Support developers in troubleshooting issues

·         Support testing automation efforts – UI and backend

 

Basic qualifications:

·         Bachelor's degree

·         5+ years of prior experience in software QA with a solid understanding of testing methodologies

·         Experience working with relational databases (SQL)

·         Competency with web application architecture and technologies, including multi platform/browser support

 

Ideal qualifications:

·         Hands-on experience with an automated UI testing tool across a variety of web browsers

·         Experience with performance testing and/or backend automated testing

·         Experience with Unit tests

·         Proficiency with at least one programming language (e.g. Java, C#, C++)

·         Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g. CruiseControl, Bamboo, TFS)

·         Experience integrating other code quality tools such as code coverage, static analysis into the quality process

 

 

Other important skills

• Great communication skills, you will be working with a variety of folks in multiple geographies, being able to express yourself clearly is critical
• Flexibility to work across a variety of software-related disciplines, you are going to be called upon to do a lot more than just testing code. 
• Must be able to set your own priorities, you will often be called upon to solve complex issues on your own
