Mainframe Environment Build and Support – Generic Job Description
Education and Experience:
• B.E.
• 3 – 8 Years of Work Experience in the below work areas
• Familiarity with ITIL Processes
• Good Communication and Customer Facing skills

Technology: Databases – DB2 v8/9 on z/OS, VSAM, IMS DB (If present on the client installation)
Application Servers – CICS, WAS on z/OS (If Present on the client installation)
Languages – COBOL, JCL, REXX, SQL
Tools – CA-7/OPC/Control – M, BMC / CA Tools for DB2, RACF (z/OS Security Server)

Activities:

•Cloning of all database objects from production / Project Test Environment.
•Data Maintenance activities – Loads, SQLs, all Utilities, Access Management
•Manual Binds (If Needed), Decommissioning, Cleanup and Data Growth Management
•Capacity and Performance Monitoring of test environments.
•CICS – Design of Configuration Parameters for all necessary AORs, TORs for the test environment. Cloning from existing test envs will be done to the extent possible.
•Design of Configuration parameters for all connectivity – CICS – CICS, CICS-DB2. Cloning from existing test envs will be done to the extent possible.
•Scheduling, Start, Stop of the CICS regions on an as-needed basis.
•CICS - Manual Moves to the override libraries
•Load Refresh, Environment Support and troubleshooting.
•On-Going maintenance of CICS Control table entries.
•Cloning of core Batch and schedule from existing test environments.
•Add-On / New Batch components coding and schedule implementation for any particular project.
•Support Core Infrastructure Team in defining code promotion path and processor groups (if required) for the test environment(s).
•Prepare and publish test run plans and request capacity (MIPs, Storage) in advance from the core Infrastructure teams.
•Batch Schedule run, Monitoring and Issue fix.
•Capacity and Performance Monitoring on an on-going basis.
•RACF Profile cloning / creation
•Tracker / Incident Queue Monitoring and Resolution. First line of support for all Environment related issues.
•Code promotion and deployment on the test environment on an on-going basis.
•Co-ordination and bridge between the ADM / Testing teams and Core Infrastructure Teams on an on-going basis during the test cycles.
•Monitor and Report General Environment readiness and performance parameters on an on-going basis.
