Java/J2EE Programming Experience
Location: Dulles,VA
Position Type:- Contract
Functional/Technical Knowledge/Skills:
Strong Java/J2EE programming experience
Strong Unix and shell scripting background
Experience in tuning Java/JEE apps and app servers to provide optimal performance, scalability & stability
Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting performance issues across all layers – Application, OS, DB, storage
Experience in Linux system administration and performance tuning using system performance troubleshooting utilities (such as vmstat, top, sar)
Understanding of load testing and performance profiling tools such as Grinder (preferred), JMeter (preferred), JProbe, Jprofiler
Experience with Big-data platforms such as Hadoop and understanding of tools such as HIVE, PIG, or Zookeeper
Perl, Python, Jython, Ruby, C/C++ programming exposure is a plus
MySQL performance tuning expertise will be a plus
Understanding of network layer technologies including server load balancing and firewalls will be a plus
Experience with Hadoop administration, troubleshooting, tuning and scaling in a Linux environment will be a huge plus
Background in horizontal/vertical scaling of high traffic web/web service applications using leading web servers is desirable
Key Responsibilities:
Perform in-depth performance/scalability analysis of Java based applications in various environments including open source/commercial JEE app servers & big-data platforms such as Hadoop clusters
Perform Java VM tuning and optimization in various environments (custom Java servers, JEE Application Servers etc)
Perform Hadoop cluster tuning and scaling
Write custom scripts in Grinder/JMeter/Other that exercise our B2B XML based API's
Develop efficient tools for monitoring, administration, operations and performance analysis of systems
Design and run repeatable tests to measure response times and system characteristics
Perform extensive end to end system analysis and generate comprehensive reports summarizing findings and recommendations including trending and forecasting
Analyze production traffic to understand user and system behavior, incorporate applicable scenarios in to test cycles
Help improve the quality of our products and services by reducing or eliminating unplanned outages, defects, problems and increasing reliability, availability and performance
Requirements:
A minimum of 8+ years experience in the technology industry with a Bachelors Degree in engineering/science related field (EE, CS, Math, IT, Physics)
