Sr. Java Programmer
Job Overview
The Sr. Java Programmer is a key member of the engineering team in Central Studio. This position is for enhancing and maintaining our internal support platform for hosting online games. Qualified candidates are disciplined, professional and comfortable with a constant flow of new work. This position requires a wide range of web and Java technologies.

Reports to: CTO
Some travel may be required
Primary Responsibilities
- Implement features and components from existing requirements or new design requirements.
- Write functional and technical specifications as well as maintain them
- Help integrate the platform into games as needed
- Help design new features for the platform
- Take ownership of online gaming platform components
- Work closely with other senior engineers, game designers, game programmers and QA to deliver industry-leading game platform solutions
- Contribute in the ongoing effort to improve software design and coding best practices
- Works closely with support, QA and other organizations in the company to educate staff and evaluate feature requirements and functionality
- Responsible for the full life-cycle of projects, including requirements, design, technical design, task estimation, implementation, automated testing, debugging, and deployment
Qualification Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a Java developer
- Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience
- Must have experience working in multi-threaded Java server environments
- Comfortable with Linux development environment
- Solid experience in J2EE and other distributed technologies
- Knowledge of common Java web programming frameworks
- Knowledge of web based GUI, SQL and database design
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL
- Good experience with object-oriented design and implementation
- Working knowledge of Software Design Patterns
- Experience with XML and SOAP
- Experience with Apache Tomcat
- Experience with JMS
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively on a team
- Self motivated
- Passion for games
- Commitment to quality
- Working knowledge of Massively Multiplayer and other online games
A highly qualified applicant will also have
- Experience with credit card processing/ecommerce systems
- Knowledge of web server administration
- Experience with Apache ActiveMQ
- Experience with XMPP/Jabber
- Familiarity with Scrum
- The desire to make the world a better place

- A willingness to do "whatever it takes"
- A sense of humor
- The ability to say "no" when appropriate
