QA Test Engineer
Work Location : San Mateo , CA
Duration : 6-12 Months+

Note : Locals Preferred , who can attend In-Person Interview
You will be a core member of a small team ensuring that an existing product has been successfully ported and integrated with new hardware devices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work closely with software developers to unit test their software updates with new devices
• Interface with an offshore QA team to ensure complete overall test coverage, with a focus on integration testing with third-party hardware and software
• Re-run existing test plans, but under different OS variations on different desktop hardware/ devices
• Modify and enhance the test plans as needed to take into account any peculiarities identified with third-party hardware and software
• Work directly with developers to reproduce problems identified on specific devices and software, so that they can debug and fix them
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum
• Experience with hands-on testing of client-server, or peer-to-peer, distributed software
• At least 5 years of software quality assurance experience
• At least 3 years of experience testing distributed software applications
• Exposure to testing the integration between systems and components that are produced within the organization and outside
• Experience with analyzing requirements, and in turn, writing, reviewing and executing test plans and test cases, to cover the requirements
• Experience with working in geographically distributed teams
• Experience with bug-tracking systems such as JIRA
• Familiarity with configuration management systems such as Subversion
• Excellent (and proven) written communication skills
• Quick learner with abilities to adapt to new tasks as needed
Preferred
• Experience with networked video applications, using protocols like SIP, H.323, RTP, MPEG-4, etc.
• Ability to analyze network protocol traffic using tools like WireShark (aka ethereal)
• Experience with Citrix desktop and application virtualization technologies, for remote execution of software, and Windows desktop access from terminals running Windows, Linux or Mac OSX
• Experience with other virtualized environments similar to VMware
• Experience with thin client terminal devices from vendors like WYSE or HP
• Network configuration background including knowledge of DNS, DHCP, etc.
• Exposure to test automation will be a plus
Education
• BS in CS or equivalent work experience
