Position:  WebSphere Administrator

Location: Chicago, IL

Duration: 6-8 months

 

Responsibilities:

Installs, configures and maintains the operating systems. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware and applications software. Detects, diagnoses, and reports related problems on the server. Duties include installing and maintaining (from a server or system perspective) operating systems, database management systems, and programming tools. Monitors and tunes systems software and networks for optimal performance.  Also installs new user accounts, creates batch administration scripts and runs systems backups and disaster recovery operations.

 

Required Skills:

·         Skilled in WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 6.0/6.1 installation, tuning and troubleshooting (4-5 years)

·         Knowledgeable in the IHS/Apache Webserver installation and tuning including plugin configuration (4-5 years)

·         Knowledgeable in the AIX and Linux operating systems (4-5 years)

·         Experience in configuring and troubleshooting WebSphere Application Server in a multiple tier (firewall/load balancer) environment (4-5 years)

·         Scripting (Jython and JACL), automation knowledge, portal experience, ESB/WebSphere Process Server (WPS) a definite plus

·         Knowledge of Wily Introscope toolset (1-2 years)

 

Additional Information:

·         Identification of components in the WebSphere Application Server space

·         Migration, installation, configuration and troubleshooting of WebSphere Application Server instances

·         Configuration of WebSphere Application Server including global security, MQ, Database and CICS transaction gateway

·         Participate in load tests to assess statistics successful migration
